[Arel had a few comments to me that she said I could pass on:] They had no warning that we were coming, and sent one poor badly dressed and coiffed, thin woman with glasses who looked quite drawn in on herself out to put out a table by herself, with a chair, then to stand on the corner and hand out hastily-gathered strips of black and tan paper that looked like bookmarks to counter our entheta. I would have taken one, but I was too busy listening to music and keeping out of peoples' way and checking on Arnie. After that some martinet of a woman came out and talked at her for a long time. Neither one of them looked happy. We saw--and I photographed--two (count 'em TWO) Sea Org officers (both women) come out of the org, stand talking for awhile (while we were across the street at the coffee shop), then pass us on their way south. The poor woman on the corner, unlike (apparently) her colleagues, did not seem to have learned to turn the self-hatred encouraged in her by the "church" toward its "enemies" yet. I don't know, however, if she was glaring at Arnie as they stood on the same corner together. Before I took any pictures, a male scientologist came out and took a picture of us together, so I warned Arnie that next would be rumors of romantic interests between him and me. I'm glad you found that funny. Arel
